WHY THE NAME PHAROS
Pharos (fair-os) is the Greek word for lighthouse. The most famous lighthouse being the Pharos of Alexandria, judged to be one of the Seven Wonders of the world. According to the Webster-Merriam online dictionary one meaning of a lighthouse is “a structure (such as a tower) with a powerful light that gives a continuous or intermittent signal to navigators”. A lighthouse is also defined as a beacon “a source of light or inspiration”. Both meanings are quite fitting for my role as a counsellor, one as like a navigation aid, the other as a source of inspiration, to help you find safe passage through difficult times.
